Urushi Nib Holder

Fuki-urushi is a traditional Japanese technique for finishing wood, widely used in historic architecture. It involves dying the wood with ink then finishing it with a black lacquer. The result is a finish that brings out the best in both the wood grain and the lacquer.

Kakimori's Urushi nib holder is elegant and understated. Designed for ease of use, it features an ergonomic shape and a length that fits comfortably in the hand.

Made to universal specifications to fit most standard nibs, the Urushi Nib Holder works especially nicely with Kakimori's metal nibs or pen nib, and pairs nicely on a desktop with their Hasami Pen Rest.

As part of our Slow Living Collection, Kakimori's dip pens encourage us to take a moment out of our busy days to intentionally practice the art of writing by hand.

Care:

  • If marked with ink, wipe clean with a soft cloth.
  • When removing the nib from the nib holder, gently pull it out while turning to avoid dislodging the nib mount.
  • After rinsing, shake well in a downward motion to remove any water or ink from the nib mount before inserting a nib.
