Materials:  cast iron

Made by:  Skeppshult

Made in:  Sweden

Specifications:

  • top diameter: 8"
  • cooking surface: 5.5"
  • total length with handle: 14"
  • depth: 1.25"
  • weight: 2.7 lbs.
  • capacity: 1 qt

Use:

  • This pan is oven-safe and works on induction, gas, electric, and ceramic cooktops. The extra-thick base gives excellent contact and stability, especially on induction.
  • Medium heat is best. Cast iron retains heat so well that there’s rarely a need to go high. Let your pan preheat gradually for even, beautiful results.
  • Due to its 100% cast iron construction, the handle becomes extremely hot during and after cooking and can cause serious burns. Always use a heat-resistant oven mitt or pot holder when handling.

Care:

  • No seasoning required—Skeppshult pans come pre-seasoned and ready to cook.
  • Clean with warm water and a soft brush or cloth. There's no need for soap, but a small drop of mild dish soap is okay if needed.
  • Avoid soaking the pan or using harsh detergents, steel wool, or the dishwasher. Try the BBQ-AID Chain Mail Scrubber for stuck-on bits.
  • Dry thoroughly after washing to prevent rust.
  • Lightly oil after drying if you like, though it’s optional.
  • To refresh the seasoning, heat the pan, rub in a thin layer of oil, and let it smoke gently on the stovetop for a few minutes. No oven needed.

Further Reading:  Every Skeppshult pan is made by hand in the same small village where the company began in 1906. Tucked away in Småland, Southern Sweden, the factory handles every step of production in-house, including pouring, finishing, seasoning, and inspecting. No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Just honest craftsmanship.

Not sure how to pronounce it? It’s Shep-sult—the name of the village, and the company that’s proudly called it home for over a century.

Skeppshult products come with a 25-year warranty. Warranty claims must be made directly with the manufacturer. Boston General Store is not able to process warranty claims on behalf of customers.
