Akio's Shin Gyokuro Green Tea

Regular price $32.00

Produced in the Yame region of Japan, Akio’s Shin Gyokuro is a shaded loose-leaf green tea with deep, rich umami and a hint of natural sweetness. Made from young, delicate leaves, it yields a smooth, full-bodied cup reminiscent of fukamushi, or deep-steamed teas.

One of Japan’s most renowned cultivars, Yabukita produces a well-balanced tea with bright, vibrant flavors and subtle herbal and mineral undertones—qualities often found in high-altitude mountain-grown teas. Enjoy this tea as a moment to focus and ground yourself, bringing a sense of calm to wherever your day leads.

About the farmer:  Akio Kurihara is a nationally recognized, fourth-generation, award-winning tea farmer. He is one of six growers working a small, secluded plot in Yame where this tea is produced. His work aims not only to share the depth and complexity of umami-rich Yame tea, but also to preserve and showcase the region’s knowledge and craftsmanship.
