Crafted from indigo-dyed Japanese cherrywood, this nib holder features an ergonomic shape and balanced length that rest naturally in the hand, making it the ideal companion whenever creativity strikes.

Dating back to the sixth century, Aizome is the traditional Japanese practice of indigo dyeing. Each Kakimori nib holder is carefully hand-dyed by an indigo artisan, with the deep blue color accentuating the natural cherrywood grain. With time and use, each piece will gradually soften and fade to a true indigo hue, developing a character uniquely its own.

Care

  • The nib holder will gently fade into a true indigo with time and use. If the wood becomes dry, polish with beeswax to restore its luster.
  • If marked with ink, wipe clean with a soft cloth.
  • When removing the nib from the nib holder, gently pull it out while turning to avoid dislodging the nib mount.
  • After rinsing, shake well in a downward motion to remove any water or ink from the nib mount before inserting a nib.
