The Greenest Green Tea
Comins' Greenest Green is a bright, grassy, and rounded loose-leaf green tea from the Kyushu Island of Japan.
Sencha is known for its light, delicate character—distinct from the richer, more umami-forward profile of matcha. This Shiarore sencha is crafted from Saemidori cultivar tea leaves, a variety prized for its natural sweetness, vivid green liquor, and low astringency. The result is a smooth, gently vegetal cup with a soft, lingering sweetness. It features notes of peach, edamame, and fresh spinach, with a clean finish and lower caffeine content compared to fully shaded leaf teas.
About the farmer: Originally a fruit and vegetable farmer, Irie-san discovered the nourishing qualities of green tea following a period of ill health. Inspired by its benefits, he set out to cultivate the healthiest tea possible on his two-hectare farm in Fukuoka Prefecture. Today, he and his team mentor a small group of young, dedicated growers in organic farming, working toward a shared vision: transforming their hometown of Kuroki-cho into a fully organic community.
