Old Fashioned Recipes

Composed of spirits, bitters, and a sweetener, the Old Fashioned is a cocktail that invites endless variations on the classic recipe. Utilizing bitters, syrups, and garnishes from our expansive Bar collection, along with select items from our Pantry offerings, we present some of our favorite spins on this most time-honored of libations.

Classic Old Fashioned
1 sugar cube or 1 tsp of granulated sugar or 0.25 oz. simple syrup
2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 oz. bourbon or rye
In a rocks glass, muddle the sugar cube or sugar with Angostura bitters and a small splash of warm water until dissolved. If using simple syrup, swirl with bitters in a rocks glass. Add whiskey and ice (preferably an oversized cube) and stir well. Garnish with an orange peel.

Apple Pie Old Fashioned
1 teaspoon apple jam
2 oz. whiskey
2 dashes Black Walnut Bitters
In a rocks glass, spoon in the jam and add the whiskey. Stir until combined. Add bitters, a large cube of ice, and stir again until chilled. Garnish with an apple wedge or an orange slice.
Bitter Bee Old Fashioned
2 oz. barrel aged gin
0.5 oz. demerara syrup
3 dashes Bitters Lab Barrel Aged Burnt Honey Hops Gin Bitters
Add all ingredients to a mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 10-15 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon peel.

Easy Old Fashioned
1 Yes Cocktail Co. Bitters-Infused Sugar Cube
2 oz. bourbon or rye
In a rocks glass, muddle one Bitters Infused Sugar Cubes. It's the exact ratio for the classic Old Fashioned Cocktail, conveniently crafted into a single cube. (If necessary, add a splash of warm water to help dissolve.) Add whiskey, a large cube of ice, and stir. Add an Orange Cocktail Garnish and a Maraschino Cherry if desired.
Honey Cinnamon Old Fashioned
1 teaspoon honey of your choice, or one honey straw
2 oz. bourbon or rye
2-3 dashes Vintage Orange No. 01 Bourbon Barrel Aged Bitters
1 dash of cinnamon
In a rocks glass, add honey and whiskey. Stir until honey is mostly dissolved and add bitters. Add a large cube of ice, a dash of cinnamon, and garnish with an Orange Cocktail Garnish and a cinnamon stick.
Maple Syrup Old Fashioned
1 teaspoon maple syrup
2 oz. bourbon or rye
2 dashes Black Walnut Bitters
In a rocks glass, combine maple syrup and whiskey. Add bitters, a large cube of ice, and stir until chilled. Add an Orange Cocktail Garnish and a Maraschino Cherry.
Pine Old Fashioned
0.25 - 0.5 oz. Maine Pine Syrup (depending on desired sweetness)
2 oz. bourbon or rye
2-3 dashes of Maine Pine Bitters
In a rocks glass, combine ingredients. Garnish with an orange twist and a Jack Rudy Bourbon Cocktail Cherry.
Rum Old Fashioned
2 oz. dark rum
0.25 oz. Jack Rudy Demerara Syrup
8-10 drops of Jack Rudy Aromatic Bitters
In a rocks glass, combine ingredients. Garnish with an orange twist and a Bourbon Cocktail Cherry.

Sweet Potato Old Fashioned
0.25 oz. El Guapo Sweet Potato Syrup
2 oz. bourbon or rye
2-3 dashes vanilla bitters
Pour whiskey, sweet potato syrup, and bitters in a glass with ice and stir until chilled. Strain into a lowball over one large rock. Garnish with an orange twist or a toasted marshmallow if you're feeling adventurous!
