Hasami Pen Rest

Regular price $30.00

Inspired by the natural form of water droplets, the porcelain Hasami Pen Rest from Kakimori offers an elegant resting place for your dip pen. Available in three distinctive colors, its soft, sculpted contours gently cradle and hold your pen steady—so it always has a home on your desktop or studio table.

Designed in collaboration with Makoto Koizumi, the Hasami Pen Rest is crafted in the historic town of Hasami in Japan's Nagasaki prefecture—a region known for over 400 years of porcelain-making tradition. Drawing inspiration from the organic forms and quiet beauty of nature, Kakimori works with local potters and artisans to thoughtfully design and masterfully create each piece.

Kindei:  Golden granules mixed into this glaze create an elegant yet striking finish that complements any material and color. The unique and variable nature of pottery work is evident here with the finished coloring dictated by the position inside the kiln and revealed upon firing.

Ruri:  A traditional glaze that has been used in Arita and Hasami ware for centuries, this reddish brown glaze reacts with the heat of Kakimori's kiln Koushun-gama, resulting in a beautiful cobalt blue. The smooth gloss finish pairs perfectly with Kakimori's Pigment Ink bottles.

Yuteki:  Meaning “oil drops”, this glaze was named after its speckled appearance resembling oil splatters. The deep and lustrous black has a refined presence that elevates any space. Iron is sprayed over the glaze to create the surface pattern. The process is carried out by hand, and no two pieces are identical.
