A natural earth pigment that is lightfast and opaque with slight texture. Umbers are brown or reddish-brown natural earth colors. This pigment consist of iron oxide and manganese oxide and in its natural form is raw umber. After the pigment is heated, the color becomes darker and richer, transforming into burnt umber.
Materials: pigment mixed with watercolor binding medium made from distilled water, glycerin, honey, and gum arabic (sap from the acacia tree)
