Carta Varese Paper Pad

Italy has a long tradition of printed paper, with some patterns tracing back to the Renaissance. This small booklet features 100 unique designs in a range of colors and motifs—florals, geometrics, and classic decorative styles.

These Carta Varese papers are printed in Florence using a meticulous, layered process where each color is applied by hand. They’re then assembled in a small workshop in Munich, Germany, resulting in a beautifully crafted collection of patterns in compact form.

Measuring roughly 4.5" x 3" x 0.5", the pages are perfect for notes, journaling, card making, or creative projects that call for a touch of timeless design.

Further Reading: Patterned paper printing in Florence dates back to the Renaissance, when the city was a hub for bookmaking, art, and design. As beautifully bound books became more popular, so did the need for decorative papers—for endpapers, covers, and wrapping. Florentine artisans developed techniques like block printing, hand-painting, and marbling to meet that demand, turning paper into an art form of its own.
