Use: With the handles open, place the nut inside the conical metal chamber. Turn the opening of the chamber to the side, so that it points away from your face and eyes.* Keeping fingers clear of the spring and crushing mechanism, bring the handles together to compress the nut until its shell cracks.
Turn the nut out into a bowl or your hand and remove the shell pieces, discarding them in your compost or trash.

Care: *Cracking nuts can cause shell fragments to break off with force. Take care to protect eyes and faces from errant pieces.
