Hibi Incense Matches

Hibi matches offer an alternative way of enjoying the relaxing aroma of incense, with refined fragrances developed on Japan's Awaji Island, the birthplace of Japanese incense.

Each stick will burn for about 10 minutes, but the aroma will linger. No lighting device is necessary - just strike the incense match on the side of the box, place it on the included mat, and enjoy.

While the mat is designed to sit inside its paper tray, we do offer Porcelain Trays in our Hibi Collection as a more permanent incense dish.

Materials:  wood, fragrance

Made by:  Hibi (in collaboration with Kobe Match and Daihatsu Incense Co.)

Made in:  Hyogo Prefecture, Japan

Specifications:  Available in two sizes: 8 sticks/box or 30 sticks/box (10 minutes burn time per stick)

Instructions:  Strike the head of the stick on the side of the box just like a typical match. Tilt downward for 5 seconds. Blow out and lay it on Hibi's exclusive round mat while it releases its gentle aroma. The round mat is flame proof.

Further Reading:   The brand name hibimeans ‘day to day’, or daily, in Japanese. It was given with the hope that you would keep it around you every day and freely enjoy its fragrance, matching each day’s mood or occasion. The logo’s design combines two of the Chinese character ‘日’ (day) set next to each other.
