Borosilicate glass is extremely resistant to thermal shock, meaning it can withstand rapid temperature changes without breaking. This makes it ideal for heating water, as it boils quickly in the pot and then cools—so you can enjoy a warm brew within minutes.

Due to the larger spout design, this kettle is not intended to produce a particularly loud whistle.

Use

To use as a kettle:

Remove the glass strainer and set aside.
Fill your Nova with hot water, no higher than the spout. Place lid.
Heat on cooktop until water is desired temperature.
Be sure to secure the lid with an oven mitt or towel when pouring so it doesn't fall off.

To use as a teapot:

Fill your Nova with hot water, no higher than the spout.
Place the tea of your choice in the strainer and set the strainer into the teapot. Secure the lid on top.
Follow steeping time for your selected tea. Remove the strainer and place it on a heat-proof surface to cool.
Place the lid on the teapot and serve. Be sure to secure the lid with an oven mitt or towel when pouring so it doesn't fall off.

The included strainer is designed for loose teas with larger, intact leaves, rather than broken-leaf teas, fannings, or dust. Finer tea particles may pass through the openings.

Care

While borosilicate glass is technically dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing your teapot and its parts.

Mineral deposits from hard water can usually be removed by pouring a little vinegar into the kettle along with some warm water and allowing it to sit. Empty the kettle and scrub or wipe the inside, then rinse with warm water. The mineral deposits should be alleviated.
