Peychaud's Bitters is one of the most classic gentian-based bitters. Compared to Angostura Bitters, Peychaud's has a light body and floral aroma, featuring notes of anise and spiced cherry. 

Sometimes nothing but Peychaud's will do, and that is why it is one of only three brands to have survived the Prohibition. Use it to craft a reliable Old Fashioned, a classy Manhattan, or try out a beloved New Orleans classic—the À La Louisiane.

In the early 1800's, Antoine Amedie Peychaud gained fame in New Orleans not for the apothecary he ran, but for the compounding of a liquid tonic called bitters. These bitters gave an added zest to the potions of cognac brandy he served in his pharmacy. Customers then began demanding a dash of bitters in their brandy, and the rest is history!
