Vegetable Brush, Beechwood

Brushing vegetables offers an alternative to peeling that allows you to retain essential nutrients like vitamins that are often concentrated in the skin.

Crafted from natural materials, Andrée Jardin's brush features dual bristle textures to suit your vegetable-prepping needs:

  • A firm side made from a blend of durable plant fibers, bassine and tampico, is ideal for scrubbing tougher vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and root vegetables.
  • A softer side made entirely of tampico fibers is perfect for more delicate vegetables like zucchini or fruits like apples and pears.

A cotton hanging cord makes it easy to store and air your brush, an essential part of caring for natural material kitchen tools.

Care:  Rinse the brush after each use and hang to dry. Occasionally wash the brush with vinegar or soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry.

Household brushes made of wood perform best when they're allowed to dry thoroughly between uses. They should never be left to soak in water as this can cause the wood to crack.

Over time, wooden brushes may develop dark spots. This is often confused for mold but is actually due to oxidation and is harmless to both the brush and its user.

Cracks will eventually occur in any wooden brush that's used in water and this is OK and to be expected! Your brush will still function with cracks. If bristles become loose, simply wiggle them out and compost them.
