Italy has a long tradition of printed paper, with some patterns tracing back to the Renaissance. This pack of origami paper features 24 sheets in a variety of colors and motifs—florals, geometrics, and classic decorative styles.
These Carta Varese papers are printed in Florence using a meticulous, layered process in which each color is applied by hand. They’re then carefully packaged in a small workshop in Munich, Germany, resulting in a thoughtfully assembled collection of timeless patterns.
Measuring 6.3" x 6.3", these sheets are ideal for origami, collage, and other paper crafts that call for color and character.
We also sell smaller sheets, available in a bound Carta Varese Paper Pad.
Materials: 150g acid-free paper

Further Reading: Patterned paper printing in Florence dates back to the Renaissance, when the city was a hub for bookmaking, art, and design. As beautifully bound books became more popular, so did the need for decorative papers—for endpapers, covers, and wrapping. Florentine artisans developed techniques like block printing, hand-painting, and marbling to meet that demand, turning paper into an art form of its own.
