What is Hobonichi Techo?
The Hobonichi Techo is more than just a planner—it’s a “life book” designed to capture your days in detail. Each one pairs a meticulously crafted planner with a coordinating cover, available in a wide range of colors and designs. Every year, dedicated fans eagerly await the brand’s annual cover release, which debuts in late August with a fresh lineup of new styles.
The core of the Hobonichi lineup includes the Techo Original (A6) and the Techo Cousin (A5), both of which were initially only available in Japanese. To offer an English-friendly option, Hobonichi later introduced the Techo Planner (A6), which features a simplified layout in English. Today, the Techo Original and Cousin are also available in English—and those are the versions we carry. Each size is available with a range of covers, or can be used on its own for a more minimalist setup.
In addition to the Techo Original and Cousin, we also stock the Techo Weeks. Techo Weeks features a week-per-page format in a long, wallet-sized book with a slim profile. A cover and planner in one, the Weeks comes in a variety of materials and designs.
Hobonichi HON has the same contents as the Techo Original A6 or Cousin A5, but with a hard cover that makes it usable on its own without a separate cover.
The Hobonichi 5-Year Techo is a Japanese-language planner that lets you record and reflect on five years of daily life, with each page offering a side-by-side view of entries from the same date across multiple years.
Almost as important as choosing your Techo is deciding how to fill the pages inside. Hobonichi accessories include fun and functional add-ons like extra pockets, index stickers, and stencils will help to further personalize your planner.
What makes Hobonichi Techo Planners different?

One of the most noteworthy features of the Techo books is the paper that is used. Tomoe River paper is thin but strong, meaning the book can contain many pages without being overly bulky. Furthermore, Tomoe River is suitable for use with many kinds of pens, including fountain pens.
