With each yearly release, Hobonichi reveals a new selection of covers in a variety of colors, materials, and designs. The 2025 covers feature collaborations with artists and illustrators, whimsical designs woven into fabric, covers bound in leather, and colorful fabric options.

Covers come in two primary sizes: the Original A6 size and the Cousin A5 size. These covers are designed to fit their respective planner books: theTecho Original A6, theTecho Planner A6 and theTecho Cousin A5. This year, we will also be offering several covers designed to fit the Techo Weeks. Although the Weeks planners are standalone planners bound with semi-hardcovers, these extra covers offer additional protection for your Weeks planner as well as zippered pockets or closures for storing journaling accessories. More on those below!

Colors Series

The Colors series is regularly offered as part of Hobonichi’s releases. This series combines solid color fabric covers with contrasting elements. These covers feature design details like bookmarks, interior pockets, and butterfly pen holders designed to keep the book closed when not in use.

New for 2025 are colorways Olive Grove and Caramel Pudding in the Original A6 size and Atelier Sky and Winter City for the Cousin A5. There are also a bunch of fun new colors in the Weeks size, including Sweet Purple, Smoke Gray, and Star Dust. Some of the Weeks colors sound good enough to eat like Lemon Water, Chili Pepper, and Pistachio

Leather

Hobonichi’s new 2025 line also offers a selection of leather covers for those looking to invest in a premium cover with classic styling.

New for 2025 are leather colors Brilliant Yellow and Charcoal Gray, available in the Original A6 and Cousin A5 sizes, and Pomegranate and Steel Gray in the Weeks size.

Artist Collaborations

With every new collection, Hobonichi introduces a variety of covers that feature the designs of Japanese artists and illustrators. These collaborations provide options that vary from whimsical drawings to embroidered fabrics to designs based on popular Japanese video games.

New for 2025 are collaborations with photographer Noaki Ishikawa which feature photographs he took of Denali, North America’s highest peak. Hobonichi is also introducing new styles by illustrators Yumi Kitagishi and Hiroko Kubota. Kitagishi’s colorful illustrations were introduced in the Hobonichi range last year and were received with enthusiasm worldwide.

An exciting collaboration with Kyoto-based art publishing company Unsodo has also yielded some designs based on “Bijutsukai” and “Shin Bijutsukai”, craft design books published during the Meiji period in Japan. The Unsodo covers and accessories feature designs inspired by multicolored woodblock prints in innovative layouts and colors, giving them a modern twist.

Another collaboration with Britain’s Liberty Fabrics resulted in two covers made with their quintessential cotton florals: The Techo Cover Original A6 and Cousin A5 in “Michelle” and the Techo Book Weeks in “Paysanne Blossom”.

Fans of the video game Mother (also known as Earthbound) will enjoy several new covers featuring characters and motifs from the game. We’ll have a cover called MOTHER: Ness’s Bike in both A5 and A6 sizes and a Weeks book called MOTHER: Smiles & Tears

Bow & Tie

Hobonichi’s Bow & Tie series is a popular one among fans of the brand. Featuring small motifs woven into bowtie material, these covers stand out among the others and are anxiously anticipated by followers with every release. We are offering three Techo Book Weeks from the Bow & Tie series and two HON A5. Snake Toy celebrates 2025’s Year of the Snake with a fabric woven with little toy snakes. One of them even has a little top hat and pipe like a gentleman! Sushi is a bright yellow cover with various types of sushi woven into the material. Each tiny sushi motif, whether it’s sea urchin with a side of pickled ginger or tamago, is depicted in charming detail on a colorful plate. We think this one will be a favorite! The last Bow & Tie design for 2025 is called Cherry.

Last year’s Bow & Tie designs went quickly so shop for yours today and don’t miss out!
