Hibi matches offer an alternative way of enjoying the relaxing aroma of incense, with refined and luxurious fragrances developed on Japan's Awaji Island, the birthplace of Japanese incense.
Cleverly designed to work like a box of matches, no lighting device is necessary - just strike the incense match on the side of the box, place it on the included burn mat, and enjoy. Each stick will burn for about 10 minutes, but the aroma will linger.
While the burn mat is designed to sit inside its paper tray, we do offer Porcelain Trays in our Hibi Collection as a more permanent and elegant incense dish.
Ambergris -Warm, marine, musky, slightly sweet. Rare, luxurious, deep.
Cedar Wood -Dry, woody, resinous. Clean, masculine, pencil-shaving-like.
Citronella - Lemony, sharp, grassy, slightly woody. Clean and insect-repelling.
Geranium -Green, rosy, citrusy with a hint of mint. Bright and floral with a leafy freshness; balancing and mood lifting.
Japanese Cypress -Hinoki, dry, woody, clean, subtly citrusy. Serene and grounding, evokes hot springs and quiet forests.
Lavender -Herbaceous, floral, clean, slightly powdery. Calming, classic, soothing.
Oakmoss -Earthy, green, damp, slightly smoky. Grounding, mysterious.
Osmanthus (formerly Fragrant Olive) - Fruity-floral, ripe apricot or peach, creamy floral notes. Soft, tea-like, luxurious.
Sandalwood -Creamy, soft wood, sweet and warm balsamic notes. Smooth, meditative, comforting.
Tea Tree -Medicinal, earthy, slightly spicy. Sharp, clean, invigorating.
Ylang Ylang -Floral, intensely sweet, slightly spicy and fruity. Sensual, rich, luxurious.
Yuzu - Tangy, fresh citrus, with a hint of floral and green. Zesty and uplifting, less sweet than orange, more complex than lemon.

Further Reading: The brand name Hibi means ‘day to day’, or daily, in Japanese. It was given with the intention that one would use Hibi products every day and freely enjoy their fragrance, matching each day’s mood or occasion. The logo’s design combines two of the Chinese character ‘日’ (day) set next to each other. Hibi Incense Matches are crafted collaboratively by two respected, long-time makers of incense and matches in Japan.
