The Pulcina Espresso Maker, designed by renowned Italian architect Aldo Rossi, brews up to three cups of rich, full-bodied espresso thanks to a unique internal design that automatically stops extraction at the perfect moment. Italian for “little chick,” Pulcina features a beak-inspired spout for a clean pour, a stepped body that regulates heat, and a chamber that preserves the coffee’s natural aroma and intensity.
Crafted from high-quality aluminum, the Pulcina offers excellent heat conduction and the ideal balance of strength and lightness. The heat-resistant handle and knob stay cool to the touch, providing safe, comfortable control while pouring.
Materials: cast aluminum; handle and lid knob are theroplastic resin
Made by: Alessi
Made in: Italy
Specifications:
Use: Before first use, wash the espresso maker with water and dish soap. Brew and discard a few batches using coffee grounds to remove any metallic taste. Use a medium-fine grind coffee.
To brew, unscrew the base and fill the bottom chamber with cold water just below the safety valve. Insert the filter basket and fill with ground coffee, leveling it off without tamping. Reattach the top, sealing firmly but not too tight.
Place on the stovetop over medium heat. On gas stoves, keep the flame below the edge of the base to protect the handle. As pressure builds, coffee will bubble into the upper chamber. Once it slows and sputters, it’s ready.
Remove from heat. The Pulcina’s design stops extraction at the perfect moment to prevent bitterness. Pour and enjoy—the beak-shaped spout gives you a clean, drip-free pour every time.
Care: Let the espresso maker cool before cleaning. Rinse all parts by hand with water only and dry thoroughly. Not dishwasher safe. If not used daily, disassemble and store in a dry, well-ventilated spot to prevent oxidation. Clean the filter tunnel occasionally to avoid blockages.
