Initially made as an everyday object which could be used daily and easily cared for, the Brown Betty teapot has proven itself to be a time-tested example of good British design and one of the most celebrated pieces of earthenware created in Staffordshire, England.
This re-engineered Brown Betty Teapot is the result of a three-year research and development project by the award-winning British designer Ian McIntyre. Working with Cauldon Ceramics, McIntyre incorporated historical elements and patents from the 1920s such as the locking lid and non-drip spout while introducing new design elements like a loose leaf tea infuser. Great care was taken to respect the traditions of this everyday object which has transcended fashions and trends to become a classic.
This new edition of the iconic teapot was nominated for the prestigious Beazley Designs of the Year at The London Design Museum in 2018, and the design has since been entered into the permanent collections of The London Design Museum, Manchester Art Gallery and York Art Gallery. We are excited to be offering this piece of British history in our online store and shops!
